Paul's Epistle to the Ephesians has been called "the Alps of the New Testament." Nowhere is that description more evident than in the ethereal and exalted thought developed in Ephesians 1:1-6. After enumerating the many blessings that God has bestowed upon His people, Paul logically proceeds to exhort believers to respond to God's goodness by a life of godliness and obedience. More than perhaps any other part of Holy Scripture, Ephesians establishes the important principle that Grace promotes Godliness - that God's salvation deserves a corresponding and proportionate response in the life of the one who is it blessed beneficiary.
